My zebra finch preapare their nest everytime i give them them materials?

yesterday my male zebra finch created some rare noise and jumped on the females back it took a split of a second and the female jumped of on the perch the male came down and started shacking his tale vigrously.were they mating .they did not make a t position as shown on the net?
